Anjelo's Production Workshop 2

Renditions. Every one of us are doing it. This is the concept of interpreting a piece of music or art the way the individual sees fit. This concept intrigued me the most because its something that hits close to home for a lot of musicians but at the same time can be a concept thats pretty abstract. People tend to assume that renditions are produced by making as much changes to the song as possible in an effort to 'improve' the song than that of the original. Another misconception that people ted to have is that for renditions to work , you need to be as close to the original as possible. But the truth is, a rendition is the interpretation of a song based on how the person creating the rendition sees fit. In fact if anything, renditions should be in accordance with the style of the performer. The most popular form of renditions are 'covers' where people would create cover of the songs with the only thing being different is the quality of the voice perhaps. Joe Cocker did a rendition of 'Cry Me A River' where he sped up the tempo and sang in blues rock and roll which is his style. So I decided to do a rendition of a song myself to implement what I've learnt by incorporating my style into the song and making the necessary changes to suit me while delivering the message that I've learnt from the song.
