Anjelo's Production Workshop 6

For this week I started on songwriting after finishing the melodies and different parts of the song. At first I wanted to go for the 2 verse 2 chorus but then I realised that my melodies were all keeping this one mood and at the same time, the vocals just takes away too much attention from the instrumentals so I kept it to a shorter verse with fewer words. It was the melody of the vocals that kept tripping me up because for once the vocals weren't the main focus so I tried out different melody lines but it often sounded more vibrant as compared to the instrumentals. Eventually I tried to keep the vocals low and near monotonous. For the lyrics I just kept it neutral, nothing too direct nor indirect as compared to my older projects. I had some time to spare so I tried to implement something I learnt recently which helped to make the keyboards sound more ambient. Because of that it ended up adding more character to the piece as a whole. Any time I had left I just spent it trying to mix and balance it out the song.
